The horns themselves are perfectly legal. However, the horns are so loud they could possibly violate local noise ordinances, just like having your radio up too loud. Naturally, if you're going around scaring grandmas and little kids all day, you might have it coming. In general, if you use common sense, you won't find yourself attracting the wrong kind of attention. Again, train horns are not illegal, you just have to watch who you scare the pants off of. Our horns are more for safety purposes than anything else. They give the driver a voice while on the road. Road rage has become a growing problem. People can be oblivious, and at times, inconsiderate. What better way to grasp their attention, than with the power of a locomotive?
